we make up: jessica teas

fellow beauty writer, jessica teas, is our inaugural we make up girl, spilling her beauty bag which delivered more than we bargained for (and makes mine look incredibly pedestrian by comparison). what a gorgeous haul! given that she's got access to some of the very best beauty brands in the world via her website and leading blog, beauty woo me, it's no surprise she has such particular tastes and, yep, we're inclined to take her word for it...

In Jessica's bag we find...

MAC Blushcreme in Joie de Vivre and Liliscent
I use these as blush and on the lips sometimes. Really lovely. I mix Joie de Vivre with Ellis Faas blush for a toned down coral. Dewy finish. One of MAC's best products.

Rich Hippie organic perfume in Kalachakra
My favourite scent right now. Perfect for spring. Totally organic (right down to the organic wine alcohol). Gentle fragrance of floral and citrus. Heavenly. A little goes along way because it's so concentrated.

Eyeko Mascara
Best mascara I've ever used. I use this 99% of the time.

Benefit Bad Gal Lash in Brown
Sometimes I use this when I do a certainly eyeshadow. Very good for length.

Cerave moisturiser and gentle cleanser
Great sample-sized bottles of moisturiser and cleanser to carry everywhere. Amazing for sensitive skin, like mine. Non-comedogenic.

CHANEL Rouge Coco lipstick in Mademoiselle
Beautiful slightly pink, neutral lipstick. Fabulous for spring.

Givenchy Prisme Visage Compact
Really nice finish if I'm a bit shiny. Doesn't cake or show up on dry skin.

Givenchy Mister Eyebrow
Fabulous tool for locking brows in place after filling them in. Also helps to press down brows that like to hover a bit (like mine).

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1
Great for lips, cuticles, glossy eyelids, taming flyaways...

Nature Girl O Mist
Great to set my makeup or pick up my complexion after a long day.

Vichy Fond de Teint Anti-Imperfection
Great foundation for people with big pores (me), acne (me) and redness (me). Little bit of product for lots of coverage and doesn't feel heavy.

Lulu Organics Dry Shampoo
Wonderful post-work out (if you don't want to wash your hair) or to revive a blow-out. Smells great too. Very fresh.

Ellis Faas blush S302
Wonderful blush for lips and cheeks. Natural looking, a bit peachy. Perfect and compact for when you're on the go.

Ellis Faas eyeshadow E105
Can do an amazing smoky eye for day with this eyeshadow without needing any other eye makeup. Creamiest texture and blends in like a charm. Love it. And the brown actually works with my green eyes.

new CID i-flick
Very very thin felt tip, it goes on smoothly and is easy to build up. Regular pencil on the other end to boot.

Three Customer Color Clarifying Pencil
Perfect for the water line if it's looking a bit red and tired. Also great for covering up red spots with laser precision.

4 sample vials of various L'artisan Parfumer scents
Because sometimes I like to put on something that's a bit muskier for night, I carry around a selection of sample vials of more mysterious scent.

Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser
The omegas in this stuff are so good for dry, nutrient deficient skin. I put it on at night. Sometimes I apply a thick layer as a mask before wiping it off.

Meaningful Beauty Glowing Serum
Just got this and trying it out so no news to report on it yet!

MAC Ruby Woo
My go-to red, I wear this with minimal other makeup. Looks fabulous. Makes light eyes pop.

Hourglass Prodigy lipgloss in Eden
When I'm wearing skinny jeans, I carry this... it's so slim I can put it in my pocket and forget about it. Perfect when I'm not using a handbag and sporting a no-makeup makeup look during the day.

Dove deodorant
Because no one wants to smell bad.

Benefit Erase Paste
If I need heavy makeup (read: when hungover) I slap this on under my eyes, on my spots, right under the eyebrow and on the nasolabial folds to brighten my entire face. It comes out sometimes when there's a serious spot as well.

Creme De La Mer The Hand Treatment
Heaven in a tube. Instantly soothes my hands. Travel-size sample tube is perfect for the purse.

La Mer The Concentrate
Sample jars of this stuff are great for carrying around with you, especially for post-workout primping at the gym. I love it. Smooths the heck out of my face and works and seems to help my acne.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl
Sometimes I layer this with Ruby Woo or one of my other many many reds. Love how bright it is. When I have minimal space, I might take this with me over my Ruby Woo.

Sonia Kashuk cleansing towels
So good for everything from a bird bath on the fly to taking off my makeup when I'm too lazy to wash. I carry them in my bag at all times.

Front Cover Shadowline
So good to convert a shadow into a liner or simply seal a regular line. I need it for my right hooded eyelid so the liner doesn't end up everywhere when I blink.

Dior Brow Styler
Teeny tiny pencil that's perfect for filling in brows with flicks of colour on the go and the bristly brush at the other end helps me blend the colour so it looks natural and not drawn on.

RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up
I can use this as a base or concealer. Feels great. So good for the skin. I love it. A new favourite. And it's so small I can always carry it with me.

RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in Muse
Wonderful for eyes, cheeks (to tone down too bright blush), as a cheekbone highlighter, as a nude lipstick or mixed with bright lipstick to make more subdued colours. Again, a new favourite.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Afterglow
This comes out when I want to go a bit coral. Sometimes, I layer it on my red lipstick or the cream blush I apply to the lips for extra shine.

Lanolips tinted balm in Sunshine
Beautiful coral tinted balm. Perfect for spring. I love it."
